General Camp Information

Please see the Irish Pony Club Camps Page for general information on IPC camps.

You will get a text message from WWPC in May asking you to book in for camp. We will only send out the camp booking forms to those who have booked in for camp by text. (The 2011
closing date for camp bookings was Friday, 17th June 2011.)

Summer camp is usually in the second week of July and is held over 5 days in Fortwilliam Estate, Glencairn, which is kindly lent to us by its owner Mrs Agnew.

Our camp is a residential camp for the ponies but not for the children. The ponies are taken down to Fortwilliam on the Sunday night prior to camp and will go home on Friday afternoon.

The 2012 camp is planned for 9th to 13 July 2012.

The 2011
cost was €150 per child.

The closing date for camp applications is usually in early June. You will be sent your application form in time. It is not possible to apply for camp before this.

Every parent is expected to help for at least one half day at camp, and also with setting up and taking down the stabling, show jumps and cross-country jumps before and after the camp.

We hope everyone has a wonderful week and ends up with lots of knowledge regarding pony and riding skills. Camp will probably be run the second week of
July, at Fort William Estate in Glencairn, (approx. 4 miles from Tallow, look out for signpost from the top of Tallow Hill, or if coming from Lismore direction, look out for signpost at Hornibrook’s garage). Fort William has been very kindly put at our disposal by Mrs Agnew, so we must ensure that we leave this beautiful old place exactly as we find it!

Camp costs approximately €150 per member, and this amount must be paid in full in advance, i.e. with the booking form. Please make sure to meet one of the committee members on arrival. Arrival time is 6.30pm – 8pm on Sunday evening. It is essential to get your pony settled in and your various bits and pieces unloaded as quickly as possible in order to avoid chaos. Camp starts at 9am and each member must be ready to ride out at 9.30am daily and to be collected at 4.30pm daily. Members up to the age of eight may be collected at 3.00pm if required but parents: please let the group instructor know if this is the case.

Please also note that if your pony damages one of the gates used to construct temporary stabling during camp week you must pay for the gate since they are kindly given to us on loan and we must replace damaged gates.
