Please see the
Irish Pony Club Hunter Trials Page for general information on Hunter Trials.

There are not very many IPC Hunter Trials but our members have very successfully competed in local Hunter Trials for years. If you want to go eventing in summer you should have done at least four Hunter Trials in spring. (Please note that your IPC insurance does not cover you on non IPC events like local Hunter Trials.)

Training for Hunter Trials is obviously done in xc rallies but we will organise special training for those wishing to participate in the Irish Pony Club Hunter Trial Championships if there is demand.

There is no qualification process for the Irish Hunter Trial Championships but you have to have done some local Hunter Trials to be allowed to participate. Also this is a team competition and every year at the Hunter Trial Championships a lot of teams are disqualified because they are lacking team riding skills. There is a lot to be learned from that, and if you consider participating, it would be good if you did at least some of the training as a team. In the last few years the Hunter Trials Championships courses were very difficult with very few participants (of all branches) getting clear rounds so don't take this serious competition too lightly.
