Area qualifiers
The various clubs within the Irish Pony Club are grouped into several areas. Our club - the West Waterford Hunt Branch - is in Area 3 together with the Tipperary Hunt Branch, North Kilkenny PC, Waterford PC, and Golden Vale PC. Each area has their own qualifiers and the best from each of the area qualifiers qualify for the national finals in Stradbally, Co. Laois in August or for the Mounted Games finals that are held at the Dublin Horse Show each year. Each pony club in our area must organise and host the area qualifiers in turn. The mounted games qualifier is organised by a different pony club from the show jumping, combined training and dressage qualifier and thus also on a different date and in a different venue. In our area 3 the Show Jumping and Dressage + Combined Training qualifiers are held together. Some of the other areas might have separate qualifiers, one for Show Jumping and one for Dressage and Combined Training.

Area Qualifier - Show Jumping, Combined Training and Pure Dressage
The 2008 show jumping, combined training and dressage qualifier, which includes the Robbie Bailey and John Ledingham competitions is being organised by Golden Vale and will be held in Killough, Horse and Jockey, Co. Tipperary on Tuesday, 15th July. The 2008 national finals will take place on Wednesday, 30th and Thursday, 31st August at Stradbally Hall. Even if you are not competing this is always worth seeing!
Only the winning team in both the Robbie Bailey and John Ledingham competition go on to the finals!

Mounted Games Qualifier
The 2008 Mounted Games Qualifier will be organised by the North Kilkenny pony club. The date is not out yet. There will be U10 and Junior Games. If we want to do Games we need to send two trained adults who know all the Games as helpers to the competitions otherwise our teams will be disqualified. The finals will take place at the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS in the beginning of August.
